MUMBAI: Garudmaachi has of late become a place where Eagles dare. Located 80 kms off Pune and nearly 160 kms from Mumbai, this picturesque location sprawled over an area of 19 acres – is fast becoming an Indian hub for outdoor-based management development centre.

The centre is the because of the efforts of Pune-based High Places Management Pvt Ltd (HPMPL). "It is a unique place. The training that we impart here is very comprehensive," says its CEO Vasant Limaye. "Management training is coupled with adventure activity here," he told the Herald.

The site promises of high adventure activities like treks and camp-outs on mountains and in valleys, rock climbing, rappelling, high rope courses, The Wall, jungle walks, orienteering and so on. Besides this there is possibilities of rafting and water based activities, caving, para-gliding and much more, all within a range of 20 kms.

The course is all about leadership development, personality building, team spirit and so on. The entire project is spread over three phases: while phase-I is fully operational, phase-II is almost complete.

A spokesperson of HPMPL said: "Ideally the course is of minimum three days and a maximum of seven days. After doing the course in such a location, the outlook of a person completely changes. A very practical approach has been adopted in the training module. One can learn the facets of modern management through various physical and mental challenges at the same time."

Based on experimental learning methodology, these programmes begin with a series of designed adventure and outdoor experiences that offer evocative challenges within the framework of safety, followed by reflections, discussions and introspections that reinforce learning.

"Sharing of diverse meanings of the same experience gives perspectives and opportunity to recalibrate the nuances in holding systems, goals, processes, aims, ambitions and expectations. This emerging data is processed with care and sensitivity by qualified facilitators that helps in transference of learning to the organizational and personal contests," he added.
